This year also brings the 60th anniversary of the Lotus Cortina, which is aptly marked with a Jim Clark Trophy race featuring 30 of the saloons in what looks set to be non-stop action on Sunday.
One of the demonstration runs will be a tribute to the GT1 sports car category, featuring Ferrari 550 Maranellos, Aston Martin DBR9s, Dodge Vipers and Chevrolet Corvettes among two-dozen examples.
There’s also a celebration of 60 years of the Porsche 911 with cars spanning three decades of the 20th century, and a demonstration of the Brabham BT52, which Nelson Piquet used to win the 1983 World Championship, and which is reputed to have lapped the Goodwood circuit in under a minute, claiming the unofficial lap record.
The demonstration runs sit between a packed schedule of racing, which includes the renamed Gordon Spice Trophy for ’70s and ’80s saloon cars, the return of the S.F. Edge Trophy for pre-war machines, and the Moss Trophy which recreates the atmosphere of the RAC TT races — see our latest issue for an exclusive drive of Moss’s Ferrari 250 GT SWB.
